PCB Design Review Before Manufacturing

A practical release checklist connecting fabrication data, assembly instructions and test requirements.

Fabrication data

Check that the copper, mask, legend, outline and drill exports use the intended origin and units. Identify plated and non-plated holes and ensure dimensions in the mechanical drawing agree with the board outline. Resolve ambiguous slots and cut-outs before releasing files.

Assembly data

Reconcile reference designators and quantities across the BOM, placement file and drawings. Mark do-not-populate positions and component polarity. Identify board-edge handling areas, connector orientation and operations that require separate work instructions.

Test access

Agree on programming connections, test points, power limits and the pass/fail sequence. Inspection of solder joints and functional verification serve different purposes; state the required coverage rather than assuming a general test request specifies it.

Change control

Provide one revision-controlled package and an engineering contact. Record approved changes in the affected source documents and export a new synchronized set. A manufacturing review complements your design validation; it does not replace electrical, safety or regulatory verification.
