Define what a good board means for your project, then choose checks that support that definition.
Inspection and functional testing
Visual or automated inspection checks manufacturing features. Functional testing checks behavior under a defined procedure. One does not automatically replace the other.
Your test package
Provide test points, power requirements, firmware revision, equipment needs, pass/fail limits and a safe operating sequence. Identify any fixtures that must be supplied or developed.
Agree on deliverables
Confirm what is tested, sampling or full coverage, how failures are handled and which records are retained. Certification or regulatory compliance must be confirmed separately.
